Paid Roles
We are occasionally looking for qualified advocates to come and work in our advocacy services and we also have trainee advocate roles for people who want to work in advocacy but do not hold the qualification or have advocacy experience.
Our trainee positions require the advocate to enrol on the Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification and complete the course within a set timescale, using protected study time to focus on this. The trainee role includes shadowing experienced team members and then be observed providing advocacy to those who are eligible for our services until the trainee is able to pick up a caseload of their own. Trainees will receive training in the different remits of advocacy, instructed and non-instructed advocacy and safeguarding and be supported to develop a thorough understanding of the role and boundaries of advocacy. The role involves acting on the instruction of the people you support, empowering them to have a say in their situation, to understand their rights and any options open to them and supporting them towards self-advocacy.

Volunteer roles
We are often looking for volunteer advocates who will provide community advocacy. The volunteer advocates for a range of people including those with learning, physical and sensory disabilities as well or mental illness, who need support with a health and social care issue and are not eligible for a statutory service.
Volunteer roles will be based at home but this role could also involve some travel within the area the advocacy service operates in.
Ideally, you will be able to commit a minimum of 7 hours per week to volunteering. You will be able to confirm your availability on your application and this will be discussed with you during your discussion with the volunteer manager.
